Director - Patrick J. Hydo

Mr. Hydo started directing the Murdock Minstrels (chorus) and teaching at Murdock Elementary in 2016.  He is Certified in Orff Schulwerk, First Steps in Music, and Modern Band 101 (Little Kids Rock). Previously, he taught in DeKalb County Georgia for over six years and conducted several small ensembles. He also co-chaired the districts Honors Chorus and presented on technology in the music classroom.

K-1 Tell a story using high voice (head voice) and low voice (chest voice) Gather some stuffed animals, toys, or puppets and make you own story. At least 1  character must have a high voice, like porky here: At least 1  character must have a low voice, like Slothy here: You can add as many characters as you want and even include siblings. Have fun with your story. March 17th E-Learning

Each week I will be posting a short musical lesson for each grade level. Please also check out the  Murdock E-Learning  post for other activities. Feel free to email me at Patrick.Hydo@cobbk12.org with any questions or concerns. Todays activities utilize the Chrome Music Lab experiments. Although they should work with any browser, I found on my iOS devices they work best in Chrome (of course). Each activity was chosen for a specific grade level, but students should be encouraged to explore. I'd love to see what the kids come up with. Please send screenshots or recordings to my email. All Grades Vocal Warm up Explore the  vocal oscillators . By clicking on one of the characters and moving up and down, you can make siren noises. Music Supplies for 2020-2021

Music Supplies   To reduce confusion and ensure every student has the correct materials, supplies for music class have been ordered through the school. The kits will come with a variety of grade level specific paper manipulatives, as well as rhythm sticks, a shaker, and a scraping instrument. I will send out emails and notify students when they are available to pick up at Murdock Elementary.
