Incredibox and Recorder

One of my favorite ways to practice is to improvise (make music up on the spot). Usually I like improvising with friends or family members, but right now meeting with friends is out of the question and not all of you have family members that play musical instruments.

So we are going to improvise with Incredibox!



You can use the app or the web version.

Because of the key (notes used), it is easiest to improvise with "The Love", so select that.


Add a few ostinatos, and then start creating your own melody over them. Try not to add too many or else there won't be enough "space" to add you improvisation.

I usually use these three guys:


The key is A minor. You can use any notes that aren't flat or sharp, but A is the most important followed by E

March 17th E-Learning

Each week I will be posting a short musical lesson for each grade level. Please also check out the  Murdock E-Learning  post for other activities. Feel free to email me at Patrick.Hydo@cobbk12.org with any questions or concerns. Todays activities utilize the Chrome Music Lab experiments. Although they should work with any browser, I found on my iOS devices they work best in Chrome (of course). Each activity was chosen for a specific grade level, but students should be encouraged to explore. I'd love to see what the kids come up with. Please send screenshots or recordings to my email. E-Learning Rotation #5

Teach me a song you love. K-5 You are going to cover a song. "Covering" is when you play a song that someone else wrote. As much as I love to hear the songs you wrote yourself, save those for another day. Here is my cover of "Bastille Day" by the band Rush Choose a song, practice, perform, and record it. It doesn't have to be fancy (I like doing multitrack videos, you don't have to). There is a 3 minute maximum limit on the flip grid recordings.
