E-Learning Rotation 2

Everyone

Spirit Day!

Social Distancing is difficult, but it is important. I hope you are enjoying time with your families and are learning lots of different things (math, science, organization, cooking, laundry, etc). Don't forget to take time to play outside and play music.

I miss hearing your voices and making music with all of you.

These assignments are going to build on the assignments from the March 17th E-Learning post. Go through this lesson and then go back to the other post and try some things out.

Melody Maker all grades

This is building on 1st grades lesson from the March 17th E-Learning post, if you want start there.

Watch this short video.

Kinder - 5th grade

Create your own melody with the Melody Maker.

Can you sing your melody? Play it on an instrument (piano, recorder, ukulele, guitar)?

If you are able, send a video or picture of you performing your melody to  Patrick.hydo@cobbk12.org

3rd - 5th Grades

Go back to March 17th E-Learning and review that assignment.

Make a new melody using Song Maker. Remember a melody is one pitch at a time, no vertically stacked blocks and leave some empty columns for rests.

3rd Graders Start with a good melody before you add your rhythm instruments to it. The rhythm instruments can either line up with your melody or contrast with it.

4th & 5th Start with a good melody. When you add harmony (vertical notes), only do a little at a time. Make sure that your melody can still be heard after you add your harmony.

Tips:

If your harmony gets too thick (a lot of notes at once), your melody won't be heard.

Keep space between your melody and harmony. Usually the melody is higher.

As always, send me a link to your song or video. I will reply and try to offer feedback on every email I receive: Patrick.hydo@cobbk12.org

3rd Grade Student Submissions:

https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Song-Maker/song/5367670742450176 - Great example of pure melody....one pitch at a time.

https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Song-Maker/song/5369287797637120 - listen to those rhythm instruments. That is a neat little beat.

4th Grade Student Submissions:
https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Song-Maker/song/4891841180729344 - listen for both the melody and accompaniment. Both can be heard.

5th Grade Student Submissions:

Recorder

If you have a recorder at home, I will be posting Optional Recorder posts. Click up at the top and scroll through the posts. These will be fun activities that you can practice at home. If you don't have a recorder, some of the activities will work with other instruments (violin, guitar, ukulele, piano).
